From the Cage to the Stage!!
Conor McGregor & John Kavanagh have shocked the world with their announced retirement from MMA with immediate effect to pursue a career in Soul Music doing a tribute act to the Blues Brothers Movie. They have hit the ground running having been lined up for the interval acts during Pope Francis's visit to Croke Park and also the expected 1/2 million people at Phoenix Park.
The opportunity presented itself following John Kavanagh's enlightenment that Pope Francis followed himself and Conor on Twitter and Facebook and loved watching UFC. John sent a PM to the Pontiff and was pleasantly surprised that himself and Conor received an invite to the visit him in the Vatican. They both flew out immediately on a private plane that left from Knock Airport within a few hours of the invite.
Conor and John said upon their return to Dublin that it was a life changing experience and felt that it was time for a new direction in their careers. While they were returning on the private jet they both watched the Blues Brothers movie and felt it was a message for them to follow within the theme of the movie which is about Redemption and a 'Mission from God'. They both always had a love for music and felt it was a great opportunity for them to develop their spirituality and also provide entertainment to the public together in a more peaceful setting than the goings on that happens in the Octagon. They have been receiving singing lessons from Bono and dance lessons from Conor's sister Erin in preparation for the gigs this August.
The Pope was very pleased with the decision for the two Dublin lads to make their musical debut at the Croke Park & Phoenix Park venues that he will be providing Mass services too. He said it may help to bring the young people of Ireland that he loves so much to come back to church. Pleased with this, John Kavanagh said (half joking) he would even say mass if he thought it would help the cause. Conor McGregor said that it's ironic that he had always seen himself performing to a full house in Croke Park and also in front of 1/2 million people in Phoenix Park. Conor also said (half joking) that if he could get Dana White involved with a Pay Per View deal - it could smash the earning's from the Mayweather fight.
We wish Conor & John all the best and we hope they enjoy a new type of 'hit' in the music industry.
