14th Funakoshi Gichin Cup World Karate-do Championships 2017

Location: University of Limerick
Category: Sports
We are honoured that Ireland is the host for the JKA World Championship 2017. Ireland is a proud sporting nation and has a strong karate tradition. JKA Ireland was founded in the early 1970’s by Sensei Noel Casey. Over the years Sensei Casey has brought many of the world’s top Karate instructors to Ireland for the benefit of karate students in Ireland and to bring karate in Ireland to a world class standard. Limerick is a thriving city with a rich cultural and sporting heritage. The local infrastructure and support services are experienced, ready and equipped to support this prestigious event and will provide all visitors for the Championships with an experience to remember. Alongside interacting with committed volunteers who share a strong work ethic, the participants will experience the famed Irish Céad Míle Fáilte – one hundred thousand welcomes. We look forward to delivering a truly memorable event for all participating countries.
In advance of the World Championships, JKA will also be staging a World Gasshuku in University of Limerick on August 15th & 16th.
